What are the auction costs for biuyer and seller?
Buyer's commission is 15% including VAT on the hammer price.

Seller's commission is 5% including VAT on the hammer price.

Check whether commission rates include VAT or are net of VAT
Some classic car auction companies display their buyers commission rates (sometimes called buyers premium) as a percentage of the hammer price plus VAT, whereas other companies like H&H display rates including VAT. So comparing the rates at a glance can be confusing. In addition often the "sold price" shown on their listing for each car following the auction is shown net of VAT which can also confuse people too.

News update from H&H
As the Imperial War Museum at Duxford will be closed on Thursday 18th March to the general public, H&H say "our auction will still be going ahead as planned but it will not be possible to come to the venue and bid in person. You will be able to bid online or via the telephone". More

The auctioneer took bids from bidders online, on the telephone and from a few people in a pub near Duxford where they had been relocated because of the COVID-19 measures.

Note: H&H quote their buyers and sellers commission rates as including VAT. The sale price reported on the listing for the RV8 on the H&H website is £24,750 which is the total less the VAT paid by the buyer - slightly confusing.
