MGBGTV8
with "few modifications" Keith
Belcher has spotted a restored Factory rubber bumper MGBGTV8 which looks to be
in good Condition 1 but claims "few modifications from when it left the
Factory". But clearly there have been a number of mechanical, bodywork
and trim modifications or replacements as noted in our checklist.
Checks
with the V8 Database MGBGTV8 Black 2286 was registered many years ago by
a member in Wales and the advert seen on the internet shows the car is for sale
in Wales.
Factory production records check A check for Car No/VIN
2286 using our copy of the Factory production records shows this car was built
in 1975 and was finished in Black.
MOT check Checking the MOT
history for the car shows the car as "Red". Keith Belcher reports a
response to a query on Facebook from Robert Evans saying "It was painted
badly by a so called expert. so had done back to original colour last summer.
Just haven't got round to sending log book off to dvla due to my health problems.
nothing more than that!". So that clears that concern. https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
How
do you price a modified car? Our Price Guide update
released in November 2017 shows a Condition 1 rubber bumper car at £18,460
and a chrome car at £20,590. Our report with that guide mentioned
two trends: first the premium for a chrome bumpered car over a good quality RB
car was narrowing and second our analysis suggested there are signs the attraction
of tastefully upgraded V8s is growing in the marketplace. That trend seems to
be continuing with the development of two parallel markets for Condition 1
MGBGTV8s one for near original Factory spec cars and another for upgraded
cars, often tastefully upgraded. . See our Pricewatch reports. More Posted:

- Factory rubber bumper MGBGTV8 in black - private sale Advert says "genuine
1975 Factory MGBGTV8, Car No 2286, owned since 1982, few modifications from when
it left Factory, stainless steel exhaust/manifold, spax suspension, MGC bonnet,
SD1 gearbox, Minilite wheels and Edelbrock carbs. In excess of £20k of receipts
and extensive photos of restoration completed 2014. No rust or rot in this car!
Engine rebuilt by JRV8 in Ireland. Tax exempt, MOT exempt May 2018". The
car also has a sunshine roof. The reason for a "reluctant sale is ill health".
