What is GDPR?
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It will come into force on Friday 25th May 2018 in all EU Member States, including the United Kingdom. These regulations will replace the existing data protection legislation and introduce a more rigorous data protection regime.
The GDPR governs the collection, storage and handling of personal data which is information that can be used to identify an individual person directly or indirectly.

Data protection and privacy
Here at the V8 Register we take the privacy of our members' data seriously and will only use your personal information for MG Car Club (Club) membership administration purposes and for communicating with you about your membership of the V8 Register. Only the V8 Registrar will be able to access any data you have provided to the V8 Register. More information about how we look after and use your data can be found on our new data protection regulations briefing document. www.v8register.net/dp/data.pdf

The V8 Register will use your data to communicate with you about your membership of the V8 Register and any access to and use of our V8 Bulletin Board (V8BB) you have and any access to and use of our V8 Register Facebook Group (V8FG). As a branch of the MG Car Club (Club) we may provide your name and contact details to the Membership Secretary of the Club to administer your membership of the Club, to the Administrator of the V8BB to administer the V8BB and perform the V8BB moderation role, and to the Administrator of the V8FG to administer the V8FG and perform the V8FG moderation role.
The V8 Register encourages members to update their data, make enquiries as to the data held on the V8 Database, have access to that data, make any corrections, give the V8 Registrar notice if they object to our holding their data and if they wish have their data erased.

We will never share or sell your data without your prior permission. Postal addresses are never released to any party other than to the membership secretary at the Club as there are reasonable concerns that possession of a postal address could identify where a car is kept and thereby expose the car to the risk of theft.
