Looking
back - the MG RV8 and the community of V8 enthusiasts
As we reach the 30th anniversary of the launch of the
MG RV8 model in 1992 and the 45th anniversary of the formation of
the V8 Register in 1978, we have a series of articles and features
reflecting on many of the memorable moments, news items and photos
enjoyed by fellow V8 enthusiasts.
You can contribute to the series with photos, copies of magazine articles
and notes of your recollections of the personalities and memorable
events over the 45 years since the V8 Register was launched in 1978.

MG
RV8 production completed
The completion of MG RV8 production was the lead item for the
weekly report released by the Rover Group Cowley on 30th November
1995. "The 2000th and last MG RV8 was driven off the production
line on Wednesday 22nd November 1995. Although small in numbers,
the car provided publicity and a great deal of interest in Rover
which kept the MG name and brand alive post Abingdon.

Hurricane
damaged RV8 restored
Ken Watson's RV8 restoration is unusual - the car was swamped
by a tidal surge on the Cayman Island during a hurricane in
2004 but was brought back to the UK where Ken and Early BBBs
(which is now called R G Classics) in Hampshire undertook the
hard work of stripping and refurbishing the car. Ken's RV8
was seen a Club race meeting at Castle Coombe in 2007. See
a full account of the restoration. 070819
