Are rubber bumper MGBGTV8s attracting growing interest?

An advert in 1974 featuring the Bayflex bumper system said "British Leyland are the first motor manufacturer to produce cars fitted with Bayer's totally new Bayflex integral skin polyurethane foam bumpers front and rear".
Although chrome bumper MGBGTV8s have been the more popular model for many years there are signs the "rubber bumper" model is attracting growing interest. They give the MGV8 model a distinctive and modern appearance. Rubber bumper production was less than half of the number of chrome bumper MGBGTV8s leaving Abingdon with chrome bumpers, so in that sense they are rarer.

Teal Blue 2101 above was one of four pre-production MGBGTV8s with the new "rubber bumper" delivered to the BLMC Austin/Morris Publicity team at Longbridge for the launch of the RB model in 1974. A few years later the car was purchased by Geoff Allen, who was foreman of Rectifications Department at the MG Factory during his long career there, and he enjoyed driving and looking after the car for many years. After the closure of the MG Plant in 1980 Geoff set up his own MG servicing business at his home in Abingdon. Later with retirement he moved to Congleton in Cheshire and in May 2007 he decided it was time to to sell the car. Today it is owned by Jacques Milliet in Switzerland, a longstanding MGBGTV8 enthusiast and good friend of Geoff Allen our former V8 Register Archivist & Historian.
