Brief
V8 Register report for 2010
As we roll into another decade, how are we doing in terms of
providing useful and topical information together with good
support and services for MGV8 enthusiasts?
Well the V8 website had 559 new or amended webpages uploaded
to the website in 2009, that's just under 11 a week. The website
received 92,593 unique hits in the year (ignoring repeat hits
in any day by the same visitor), which is 254 a day on average.
The "Recent Changes" log is an innovative feature
which provides links to new webpages so regular visitors to
the website can find updates very easily. Recent
Changes
The V8 Bulletin Board had 1,164 postings in 2009, around
3.2 a day, and continues to attract good quality contributions
and advice from fellow members.
The two workshop notes series have been very active with
some 40 new notes in 2009 - 16 in the twelfth volume of the
V8NOTES and 24 in the ninth volume of the RV8NOTES - so we now
have a total of 729 notes in the two series. More
Total registrations of MGV8s are
now 3,240 with 172 new additions in 2009, so we believe we have
over 75% of Factory MGBGTV8s registered and around 50% of RV8s
as there are still many in Japan. Around a quarter of the registered
members are overseas and it is clear the V8 website and V8BB
are very popular "open-to-all" features which provide
an opportunity for access and their participation in V8 Register
online activities. More
The V8 Grapevine was launched in 2009 providing useful
online vehicle and member search facilities. You can look up
details of MGBGTV8s, MGV8 Conversions and MG RV8s. It has been
a popular additional service. More
Our advice on buying or selling an MGV8 has been developed
as a mini website which provides visitors with model guides
and advice on how and where to buy a car, how to advertise and
sell a car and checklists and other useful information. That
online resource is available from a prominent link at the foot
of the V8 website homepage and on an "open to all"
basis to help enthusiasts thinking of getting an MGV8. As an
additional welcome to new V8 enthusiasts, a Helpline for MGV8
Buyers was launched in 2009 which is coordinated by John Bolt.
Buying and Selling & Helpline
MGV8s for sale webpages have been very active in 2009
with some 48 cars advertised for sale over the year. It has
become the leading place to advertise an MGV8 for sale and a
popular online resource for enthusiasts wanting to get an MGV8.
