Getting replacement tyres for a classic car like an MGV8 is often a personal choice based on a variety of available information, online recommendations or owners' preferences. In most cases any new tyres will feel better than the aged tyres they replace.

Tyre test results
The independent tyre test results reported by Which? magazine show Continental Contact tyres are ranked high again. The "modern car" tyre sizes tested were:
215/55 R17
225/40 R18
225/50 R17

Using these results for an MGV8
Tyre size - most replacement tyre reviews cover tyre sizes and profiles used on modern cars (see alongside) whereas the tyres fitted to an MGBGTV8 or an MG RV8 are different:
175/80 R14 88H & 205/65 R15 94H

Can modern car tyre size test results be carried over to classic car tyre sizes?
The test performance characteristics of the tyre brands, types and sizes fitted to the modern cars that are used for the tyre tests – like wet and dry grip, roadholding, braking performance and ride comfort - will tend to be seen in the same brands of tyres in the sizes we have for our MGV8s. Not a perfect carry-over of the test results but a fair assumption when looking for replacement tyres for a classic car like an MGV8.
