MGB
Roadster - an all purpose competition car now seen for sale
Annabel Brown has advertised her late husband's MGB Roadster for sale.
The car
has been carefully restored and used on track days. It drives and
handles beautifully, reflecting the engineering
skills
of the late Gerry Brown.
Ron Gammons set up an MG maintenance and repair
business with Gerry Brown in his garage at home in Letchworth in 1977.
In 1978 the Brown & Gammons business was moved to the present
Baldock site and two years later expanded with a parts operation in
the refurbished premises. After more than 15 years developing B&G,
Gerry decided to leave the business in 1993 but remained on good terms
with Ron.

First
registered in 1964 and later . Then in it was bought by Jim
Loveday in 1965 and modified into an all purpose competition
car. In 1982 it was purchased by Gerry Brown and its first main

In
1990 it was at the GT/Saloon race at the Eifel Klassik weekend
at the Nurburgring, where Gerry finished 2nd in class, 6th overall.
Gerry competed with the car in the 1993 historic Targa Rusticana
rally, finishing second overall. Many events, both races and
rallies, followedaf ater an engine rebuild - the most recent
were the 2010 Classic Mountain Challenge, and finally the 2011
Winter Challenge regularity rally, which finished in Monte Carlo.
The car was then partially dismantled, but was then left due
to Gerry's illness. Since Gerry Brown's death the car has been
carefully restored and used on track days. It drives and handles
beautifully, reflecting Gerry's engineering skills. Annabel
says "it's last MOT was on 8th January 2025 when it passed
with no advisories. This interesting MGB Roadster is now for
sale". More |
