Ron Gammons has sent in news of the availability of a rare cherished plate - V 8 - which will be a natural interest for some MGV8 enthusiasts, but at the eye watering price of £450,000 it's time to take a deep breath!

Alongside are some examples of cherished plates with V888 and a name (in this case "Ron") and the prices on offer. Clearly some classic car enthusiasts find cherished plates interesting and some even invest in getting one, but for
many classic car enthusiasts keeping the original number plate is part of the originality of the car.

Rare cherished number plate available
The registration plate "V 8" has now become available through Regtransfers who say "it was issued by Lanark County Council in 1904. It is increasingly rare for registrations of this age to have survived. Many have been lost as old vehicles were written off or scrapped.
