pre-production RV8 for sale on eBay
1991/1992 MG RV8 pre production car that has a most interesting
provenance. The car is unregistered with a VIN plate and has
covered nominal mileage in the sole ownership of an instigator
of the RV8 project. Some re-commissioning has recently been
carried out and a new fuel tank and high pressure injection
pump fitted. The engine runs well with excellent oil pressure
and sounds magnificent. The car has been in long term storage
and is scruffy but exceedingly sound. In original Le Mans Green
(1 of 30) with original hood and RV8 wheels . Full dash, instruments
and console but fitted with a single raced seat, full safety
devices roll cage and full harness belt. The car was raced in
the nineties (Cadwell Park, Brands Hatch and Silverstone) and
would be a welcome addition to grids now following further re-commissioning,
alternatively a super track day car and a fascinating piece
of MG history. £14,500

RV8 at Castle Coombe
in 2006
The RV8 of John Yea was a welcome sight parked up in the
paddock at Castle Combe in 2006 qualifying in ninth place on
the grid for the MG Car Club's Total Butler Championship race.
Talk by John Yea and David Bishop on the concept and development
of the RV8 in 2003
What
had inspired the RV8 development team to do what was an extraordinary
low budget project, creating a modern classic sportscar to keep
the name of MG alive as a modern brand in the early 1990s? It
was fascinating tale from two enthusiasts closely involved in
the project , John Yea and David Bishop. They commented "projects
like that just don't happen like that any more". You
can get a copy of the recording of the MG RV8 talk given by
David Bishop and John Yea in June 2003 as part of the V8 25th
Anniversary events. More |
