Model MGBGTV8s update

In August MGV8 enthusiast Peter Ellis spotted a couple of webpages on the Cult Scale Models website with information on a couple of 1/18 scale model MGBGTV8s both described as "1973" models. At 1/18 scale Peter thought the models would be quite large at around 8.7" long (21.7cm) and 3.3" wide (8.5cm). No prices were shown as far as could be seen at that time. Peter thought they were due to be coming out in September 2021.

Comparing the models
Harvest Gold - the positives: paintwork is very good, interior is more representative of the model year compared to the black model. Front lights and indicators better profile.
Harvest Gold - the negatives: nothing opens (good shut lines though!), no detail on underside, no working suspension, front wheels turn but not the steering wheel. Very poor side windows and bright work.
Black - overall showing better quality with everything opening up and as reported a detailed engine bay and underside. Missing V8 grill badge.
S
ummary: the new model does not have enough detail to justify the current price range of £180 to £200. Indeed this new model is now appearing on eBay at lower prices.
