Optional day at the Nürburgring on Tuesday 1st September is cancelled
From contacts with members who have indicated in their booking for the V8 Tour 2015 they wish to attend the optional day at the Nürburgring, it appears that three major classic car insurers refuse to cover the Nürburgring. So there's a real likelihood that no UK tour participant is covered by their motor insurance policy. Insurers will have taken that decision based on their claims history as a result of incidents at theNürburgring, some of which we understand have been serious. The idea of a classic car enthusiast seeing the red mist and thrashing around the circuit at high speed leaves a risk of a serious accident if something goes wrong, like a misjudged corner or their failing to see a faster car or motor cycle passing at high speed. Without motor insurance cover that could result in a serious loss from an incident. So reluctantly we have withdrawn this visit to Nürburgring from the V8 Tour 2015 to Germany. Entrants are of course able to make their own arrangements to visit on a day when it is open to the public.

V8 Tour 2015 to Germany - Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 6th September
Motor clubs organising tours in the UK have to get an RAC MSA waiver which involves submitting details of the route and nature of the event. That waiver also provides cover for the organisers and their club. That cover is not available for the V8 Tour 2015 to Germany. As usual the organisers will require each member attending the event to sign a disclaimer before the event. A copy of the disclaimer will be issued to members by Bob Owen in May 2015.
