Willson gives his view on driving a pre-production prototype MG RV8
in 1992 during an exclusive test drive and says "the name of
MG is alive and well in the form of a new MG RV8 with it's grunty
3.9 litre fuel injected V8 and a 5 speed gearbox. Make no mistake
about it this is a real MG, the best ever. A proper, proper sportscar
to stiffen the sinews and summon up the blood. To drive it is to love
it". As he calmly changes up from third to fourth with the magical
rising sound of a purposeful engine, he adds "it's a disarming
car, very quick with knife sharp acceleration, yet a refined interior
and smooth riding but it still oozes that period charm that made the
old MGB one of the best selling sportscars in the World. No, the new
MG RV8 is a real burster!" "But will it sell - well Rover seems to think so and they have taken so far over 100 deposits". See the video |
