MGBGTV8 at the 1973 Motor Show at Earls Court

David Knowles has spotted a video clip on the web with a report on the 1973 Motor Show at Earls Court in London when the new MGB GT V8 was launched. The voiceover is a real period piece together with the "window dressing more or less as before!" He kindly provided several 'screen shots' of the MGB GT V8 from the video, noting "the first is of Citron 798 on display on a ramp with the logo "the new 124mph MGB GT V8", the second is Aconite 799 (on the stand) and finally the Limeflower 118 press car (HOH 901L) which I suspect could have been filmed either at MIRA or at a press event." David adds "there is a reference to Lord Stokes in the voice-over about the V8 which I have transcribed - it says: "
the uprated MGB GT V8 with a top speed of 124 miles an hour. Lord Stokes’s answer to the foreign invasion is that ‘our cars are as good as any in the world, and our spares more readily available."

David comments "today it might seem funny to especially boast about spares availability, unless you felt that your products would be going wrong a great deal!"
Footnote: David has identified the MGBGTV8s that appear in the video clip as Citron 798 on ramped display, the second is Aconite 799 (on the stand) and finally the Limeflower 118 press car (HOH 901L) which I suspect could have been filmed either at MIRA or at a press event. The voice over also refers to "window dressing" more or less as before!" 140224
