How
many MGBGTV8s & MGRV8s are there in the UK?
With road tax exemption available to MGBGTV8s most registered keepers
have changed the road tax classification of the vehicle from Private/Light
Goods (PLG) to Historic. Then they have an annual renewal of the Vehicle
Excise Duty (VED or road tax) at the NIL rate together with the renewal
of their motor insurance cover. However cars that are in a lay up
and not registered as Historic will need to be registered as off the
road on a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) with the DVLA.
The road tax exemption is currently available for cars 40 years old
and more on an annual rolling basis so should begin to be available
for registered keepers of MGRV8s from April 2033. Until then many
registered keepers tend to tax their MGRV8 for 6 months each year
and then have it on a SORN until the next tax period. Link
