Two MGBGTV8s found in
a collection of classic cars in Norfolk They made their way to an auction
with ACA. Looking at the very sad photos of the two MGBGTV8s one can only wonder
how on earth anyone with any fondness for classic cars can keep cars in this state
- it defies any understanding. But the good news is they will soon be auctioned
and then hopefully they will be purchased by enthusiasts who will want to refurbish
and cherish them.
Both cars are early models - Blaze 115 was built 6 months
before the launch of the MGBGTV8 in August 1973 and became a pre-production public
relations car for "press car" use ahead of the launch. Teal Blue 583
went into the dealer network in the month after the launch.

MGBGTV8 - Blaze 0115 Built in March 1973 and originally a press car with
BLMC Publicity at Longbridge in June 1973 and then registered with the V8 Database
in October 1991 by Graham Hayman in Devon. It was later owned by Edward &
Philip Armitage in Suffolk. A subsequent incomplete entry on the V8 Database indicates
the car had passed to an unknown owner, presumably the "collector in Norfolk".

MGBGTV8 - Teal Blue 0583 Built in August 1973 and originally despatched
in September 1973 from the MG Plant to Stewart & Arden in Southend-on-Sea,
Essex. Registered with the V8 Database in the 1980s by Douglas Cheer in Romford,
Essex. There has been no subsequent registration so the car has dropped off the
radar, presumably acquired by the "collector in Norfolk". |
