Private sale - one of the finest chrome bumper Factory MGBGTV8s in the UK - SOLD
Black 0974
first registered in May 1974 and the subject of a meticulous rebuild by Dave Wellings. Since that time the car has run approximately 11,000 miles. The rebuild, which included a brand new engine, is photographically documented, the provenance being enhanced by MOT certificates and tax discs going back to the seventies, service history, supporting invoices for parts and labour etc. It even has the original University Motors rear window decal, and tax disc holder. Included in the sale are a selection of spare parts and memorabilia relating to this truly remarkable car. The car has an MOT until May 2011 and is taxed to October 2010.
Private sale - Factory MGBGTV8 Roadster conversion
Damask 1186
(1974) with chrome bumpers. Very rare factory MGBGTV8 converted to a roadster by Lenham Sportscars (Kent) in the 1980s producing an open 2+2. Currently 123,000 miles and in same ownership for the past 23 years and only covered 3,000 miles in last 10 years. The car is generally in very good condition and drives extremely well and sounds even better. Some cracking to paintwork. Black mohair lined hood and hood cover and complete vinyl tonneau cover. Black leather seats with headrests, but otherwise pretty much "as Factory". Many new parts - in 1980s include new wings and doors, respray, leather seats, brakes, front shocks, stainless exhaust, steering wheel, clutch and gearbox. Last year new stainless exhaust manifold, head gaskets, heater matrix, rear shocks and radiator. Taxed to Oct 2010 and MOT to May 2011. Inherited from my father last year and reluctant seller. Asking £14,450. (4.8.10) More

Private sale - Factory MGBGTV8 in Bracken
Bracken 1152
(1974) with 87,000 miles with MOTs back to 1991 at 64,000 miles. Extensive paperwork is with the car and includes the Heritage certificate and full four owner trace - which lists the first owner with whom I have corresponded. Paintwork and wheels are reasonable, the car is in generally very good condition and drives extremely well. Interior has a quality leather seat upgrade but the car is otherwise pretty much "as Factory". Many new parts/invoices in the last few years including front discs and calipers, fuel tank, overdrive etc. Includes handbook and spare keys. I bought this car to keep and enjoy long-term but circumstances have changed and it is, therefore, a reluctant sale. £7,750. (5.7.10) More

Private Sale - Factory rubber bumper Press Car
Teal Blue 2101 the first production rubber bumper V8 is reluctantly offered for sale. This well known car was owned for many years by V8 Register Historian and Archivist, the late Geoff Allen and latterly his wife Jean. It passed to the present owner three years ago from Jean Allen. It was also a MG press car, featured in Autocar and on the 1976 Leyland Calendar, all of which are in the possession of the current owner. The car has been preserved exactly as Geoff had left it, with all his window stickers and a number of little touches that he lavished on it. There are some chrome-finished parts under the bonnet and chromed door latches, all part of the spec for the motor show cars. It has only 91,000 recorded miles. Taxed for 6 months with a new MoT. Offers around £10,000. (16.6.10) More

Wanted Costello V8 or Factory MGBGTV8
I am an MG enthusiasts with a pre-war MG L Type but have had V8s in the familly since the late 1970s and my mother had Glacier White 0137 with a very low mileage. I am looking for a Costello V8 or Factory MGBGTV8, but I'm also happy to consider a tired car that needs some TLC - but not major rebuilds.

Beware of scam from an overseas V8 buyer!
Rick Morton has reported a scam which members who are selling a V8 need to note. Rick says "I just thought I would update you on my experience with trying to sell my RV8 recently before I withdrew it from sale. Both Jerry Winfield (Woodcote Green 1684) and I heard from the same person but I also had several other emails with roughly the same approach. Basically this person who is overseas agrees to buy your car, and will send you a cheque for more than the asking price to cover shipping costs etc. He then asks if you could bank the cheque and send the balance to his shipping agent via a money transfer. The cheque bounces but only after you have sent the cash to the shipping agent. This scam relies on your ignorance of how the cheque clearing system works. Problems arise because banks update their computers on day three of the clearing cycle. So if you check with them at that time, you may very well be told that the funds are available. It will only be on day four that the bank realises that there is a problem, and on day five that they tell you. Weekends and Bank Holidays all add to the delay. In my case the scam merchant was going to send me a cheque for £3,400 more than I was asking for the car. I was to subtract the cost of the car and send the remainder to his "shipping agent"." So members need to be alert to this scam and any approach from the scam merchant!
