DVLA
sends out SORN warning letters
Fellow V8 member
Chris Hunt Cooke sent in a copy of the report saying "from
this article it seems that the DVLA will now issue a further
reminder if SORN or VED has expired and nothing has been heard
from the Registered Keeper."

A
news report in the popular Classic Car Weekly says
that" letters aiming to help people avoid being
fined for not taxing or declaring a SORN on their
cars are being issued by the DVLA". |
This
is a welcome change of approach by DVLA which has
had a reputation for being harsh and aggressive
in the way it deals with motorists as our earlier
NEWS items have noted on several occasions. The
CCW article quotes a DVLA spokesperson saying "the
new warnings were a customer service, encouraging
people who are forgetful rather than malicious to
get their vehicle taxed or SORNed."
Fellow V8 member Chris Hunt Cooke sent in a copy
of the report saying "from this article it
seems that the DVLA will now issue a further reminder
if SORN or VED has expired and nothing has been
heard from the Registered Keeper. I have not been
able to verify this from the DVLA website but it
looks genuine." More |
