V8
Track Laps
An opportunity to drive your V8 on the track at Silverstone
and see the line through the corners from the driving seat is always
enjoyable!
On Sunday 22nd June 2003 we
have a slot on the track at 11.40am when V8 Register members will
be able drive their V8s on the track at Silverstone at moderate
speeds. In previous years these track sessions have proved very
popular with Club members so early booking is strongly recommended.
All holders of a V8 Pass will be allocated a slot so the benefits
of the comprehensive V8 Pass are clear! For full details of the
benefits and coverage of the convenient V8 Pass - see V8
Pass.

As the track laps session progresses, the cars spread out so
you have more room to use the track - the scene from behind Howard
Gosling's V8 Roadster. The photo alongside is the view approaching
the same spot!
Gordon Hesketh-Jones is managing this event for the V8 Register
together with members of his family. The photo of Gordon below will
enable you to recognise him on the day.
What are the arrangements and timing for the V8 Track Laps session?
All drivers holding a ticket for the V8 Track Laps will need
to sign-on beforehand and then report to the assembly point by [11.00]am
where they will receive a written confirmation of the Club marshals'
safety briefing. The V8 Track Laps session is scheduled to start
at 11.40am and end at [11.55]am. The running and timing of the
V8 Track Laps session is subject to any amendments or even cancellation
which may be required by the Club's marshals. The times in [square
brackets] are to be confirmed.
What is the format of the event?
Drivers will circulate on the circuit at moderate speed behind
the marked Course Car, maintaining sensible distances from other
participants and avoiding bunching and no overtaking. Drivers will
be released from the assembly area in a steady stream to avoid bunching.
Most members who are considering booking a place will be pleased
to know that the session will be run in strict compliance with
the standards and safety requirements of the Club's marshals.
It will be made very clear that it is not a competitive event. All
drivers will be so briefed on signing on and parking up in the assembly
area beforehand. No crash helmets or racing overalls will be required
as the session will not permit overtaking or driving at anywhere
near racing speeds. The emphasis is on enjoyment for all and no
incidents. In previous years driving standards have been good. All
entrants shall make their entry using the application
form available on this website and sign the declaration
acknowledging and accepting the Terms and Conditions which are set
out alongside.
How do I find the signing-on and assembly area?
See the location map which will be posted on this webpage
later when it is obtained from Club Office.
What is the cost?
The entry costs is £15.00 part of which will be distributed
to a nominated charity for 2003. That charity will be identified
in the official programme for the MG Car Club's International MG
Meeting.
Is this event covered by the V8 Pass?
Yes it is included in the V8 Pass package
of benefits and holders of a V8 Pass will be assured of a place.
