Exeter
Trial 2010 - 8th-9th January 2010 is cancelled
Official announcement at 10am Thursday 7th January 2010
The Clerk of the Course and the organising team for the Centenary
Exeter Trial due to be held this weekend have been receiving
reports that the byways of Somerset, East Devon and Dartmoor
are treacherous in the extreme with sheet ice under compacted
snow. Some of the villages on the edges of Dartmoor are inaccessible
and the descents which we use to access sections are extremely
dangerous with sheet ice. Marshals have been phoning in to say
they cannot get out from their home villages and access to sections
for conventional road vehicles would be extremely dangerous.
We are sad to have to announce the Exeter Trial 2010 on 8th-9th
January 2010 is cancelled
However, not
all doom and gloom. I've spoken to The Trecarn Hotel. The Celebration
Dinner at 8.00 pm on Saturday 9th January will go ahead so those
that have purchased dinner tickets and booked rooms can still
enjoy the social gathering. If you have booked a room for Saturday
night that room will be available to you on Friday night (no
dinner available) at the same price. Please contact the hotel
direct. 01803 329292. Given that the main roads to Torbay are
clear and useable, the dinner and social gathering will still
go ahead. The bar will be open from 12.00 p.m. on Saturday.
Hopefully I can get there a little earlier than I usually am
able to.
Tim Whellock, Clerk of the Course
