V8 Awards at MGLive!

Three awards are made at the V8 Annual General Meeting held at MGLive!, the Club's principal annual event. This year the awards went to Peter Garton, Steve Newton and Lauran Gallacher.

Chris Dodds Award
The present trophy is in fact a copy of the first trophy as the first trophy was filled with silver shields!

Ian Lloyd Cup

Geoff Allen Cup

In each case the awards are in memory of three wonderful members of the V8 Register.

Geoff Allen Cup 2011

As the award went to a young lady this year we felt something a little more appealing to a young lady than a pewter tankard might be a good idea. The picture frame is made in steel by Tilley Design and supplied through National Trust shops. No two examples of these frames are the same.

Chris Dodds Award 2011
The award was made to Peter Garton, an enthusiastic RV8 member in Germany who has contributed several useful workshop notes and many interesting postings on the V8 Bulletin Board. His amusing accounts of driving his RV8 in the Moselle region illustrate how an MG is an all round pleasure!
Ian Lloyd Cup 2011
This trophy was first awarded in 2002 in memory of a very popular and cheerful RV8 and MGBGTV8 enthusiast, the late Ian Lloyd. The trophy is "awarded to a member who has brought good cheer and humour to the V8 Register over many years". This year the cup went to Steve Newton who regularly helps the V8 Webmaster with information and photos for articles and news items on the V8 website.
Geoff Allen Cup 2011
This trophy was awarded for the first time in 2007 in memory of Geoff Allen, a much loved V8 enthusiast. who brought a wealth of technical knowledge to the V8 Register and acted as historian and guardian of the V8 Factory records for many years. This year the award went to Lauran Gallacher, a work experience student who has made a wonderful contribution to the work of the Club Office team. Jean Allen presented the award.
