V8BBQ
at MGLive! 2010 at Silverstone on Saturday 5th June
2010
An informal V8BBQ is being arranged by Mike Taylor
alongside the V8 Marquee at MGLive! on Saturday
5th June. It will start at around 6pm and will be
arranged as a "bring and cook" BBQ
as our traditional V8BBQ supper is not possible
this year.

alongside the V8 Marquee at the Club's annual meeting
at Silverstone has become increasingly popular with
the generous sponsorship support of Clive Wheatley
and the hard work of his team of volunteer cooks.
In many ways it had become too successful and whilst
there was a risk the scale and form of the event
might not comply with operational requirements at
the circuit, there is an additional constraint for
2010 which means that for this year we have had
to make major changes. Sadly a key member of the
team of cooks is not well so after discussion with
Clive we have decided the heavy workload cannot
be undertaken this year. Naturally we have asked
Clive to send our best wishes to the team with our
sincere thanks for their generous work in recent
years.
So where do we go from here with a V8BBQ for MGLive!
2010? Well if you have applied for your MGLive!
2010 tickets online you will have seen that rule
3 states that BBQs are allowed, but this of course
refers to individual or personal BBQs. So this gives
us our way forward - we are planning an informal
V8BBQ where V8 members bring their own BBQ cooking
kits and food so it may be cooked alongside the
V8 Marquee on Saturday 5th June from around 6pm.
Individual BBQ cooking kits can be obtained from
supermarkets and hardware stores for about £2.50.
Members joining the V8BBQ will need to bring their
BBQ food, drink, glasses, chairs and table together
with a box of matches to fire the cooking kit and
then we can all sit down and have a V8BBQ! If you
have a small gazebo and can bring that with you,
it will provide useful shelter for the evening.
Just occasionally it can rain at Silverstone!
Mike Taylor is very fond of the V8BBQ and has offered
to coordinate the "bring and cook"
