New
laws in France will make the equipment compulsory for all cars
on French roads from 1st July 2012, with anyone caught without
the equipment facing an 11 euro (£9.30) fine.

Telegraph on Saturday 25th February 2012 noting
"the law is changing in France on 1st July
2012 when it will be a requirement to carry a breathalyser
kit in the car when travelling in France."
The Daily Telegraph report
says "anyone caught without the equipment faces
an 11 euro (£9.30) fine."

low cost breathalysers are available including
the Alcosense Lite Pocket Breathalyser recognised
by WHATCAR? magazine as the best breathalyser
under £40. It's available from various
suppliers including Halfords at £38.99
but the online customer reviews are mixed.
