long last K&N have made a filter element that
replaces the standard paper element" reports
Barrie Jones. K&N says "we believe this
is the best match of our data to your request for
the twin air cleaners on a 1974 MGBGTV8". The
replacement filters are part number E-2400.

These filters are washable and reusable and are
custom designed to fit into your existing factory
air box. Their drop-in design means adding performance
is simple. With most vehicles you simply remove
the disposable air filter and replace it with a
K&N. See applicable instruction sheet for details.

The air cleaners on the MGBGTV8
contain paper elements that are inefficient and
require regular replacement. Fortunately, K&N
and Jetex make suitable replacements. The K&N
part number is E-2400 and the Jetex part number
is R90059. As the airflow through K&N filters
alows more air to pass causing the mixture to become
weaker. Barrie recommends a slightly richer carburettor
needle with these elements (BAF instead of BBU).
Another option is to take the car to a rolling road
and get their specialist to check it out.
