Is
this a reassuring advert for a high priced, low mileage RV8?
The
advert says this 1995 RV8 with only 7,980 miles has been kept
in heated humidity controlled storage since 2001. It's on offer
on sale with a dealer just west of Guildford in Surrey at £21,999.

The
advert says "this car has its full set of
original factory supplied tyres . . . but through
lack of use one or two of the tyres have developed
a 'flat spot' which makes it feel like a wheel is
out of balance at about 80 mph, however this may
well disappear once the car gets some mileage under
its wheels!"
It later adds "as you would expect of a car
with this ownership and mileage . . . there is
absolutely nothing wrong with this car in terms
of its mechanical condition. Most certainly
if you have not driven one of these before you will
be very surprised at how fast (and slightly dangerous)
they are to drive!". |
Mike
Lane has been reading the advert for this low mileage
RV8 - White Gold 1916 - and says "it's being
sold by a dealer, Dean James of Churt near Farnham.
The car can be seen on his website and is described
as an MG RV8 MGB Roadster - so he knows the
model well? But I am rather disturbed by a statement
within the online sales details where the dealer
records that two of the originally factory fitted
tyres are flat spotted so they feel out of balance
at about 80 mph but this problem may well
disappear once the car gets some mileage under its
wheels!" Mike adds "using
16 year old tyres on such a powerful car,
especially at high speeds (and as stated by the
dealer, above the legal limit), can lead to a disaster.
He also mentions that if you have not driven one
of these cars before then it may be surprisingly
fast and slightly dangerous? It definitely will
be more than slightly dangerous on those tyres!
I think this dealer has made very irresponsible
statements and should know better!"
