John van den Boorn from Holland emailed to say "at the V8 Autumn Tour 2012 weekend there was an Oxford blue RV8 with an elm burr gear knob and what made it more special was it had markings on the top with the gears 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and R in a white/yellow colour. Do you know who the owner of the car is?"

V8 Tour organiser Bob Owen responded saying "the car with the gear knob in question was on Rob Lewis' car. His wife Denny has an MG ZR which had the gear knob John describes fitted. It was an MG/Rover MG ZR option or accessory which

was readily available from MG Rover dealers prior to the collapse several years ago. Rob coveted it for his RV8 as he saw what a good match it would be with the elm burr dashboard so Denny graciously allowed it to be transferred. Rob had to drill and tap the gear knob to suit the RV8 gearstick so it can never again grace poor Denny's ZR. Since it was a standard MG Rover item you might find one on eBay."

Later Rob Lewis sent in some photos saying he was "enclosing a few pictures of my now famous knob!" They are reproduced alongside.
