MGBGTV8
goes for £12,075 at Bonham's auction at Oxford today
It
was John Heagren's V8, well known concours competitor in MG
Car Club events.
See the Bonham's online catalogue and auction report. More
Comment: MGC Roadsters and MGCGTs are attracting some relatively
high prices when compared with MGBGTV8s and for some V8 enthusiasts
discussing this at the International MG Show at Stoneleigh the
other weeknd, they could not understand why a rarer model like
the V8 with good spares availability is not attracting higher
prices.

The
Bonham's catalogue said "This remarkable MGB
GT V8 has won over 370 concours trophies, making
it probably the most successful MG of all time in
such competitions. The MG was purchased new by John
Heagren, of Westerham, Kent, who restored the car
(previously registered '8235 JH') to better-than-new
condition. As well as the B&H 'Concours International
Champion' award its achievements to date include
54 Premier Class wins, 12 Master Class wins, 44
'Car of Show' awards, 'Best MG in the UK' at the
NEC in 1990, 'MG Of The Year' in 1994 and Master
Car Club 'Champion of Champions' in 1995. The vendor
acquired the car in 1995 and is the 4th keeper.
While in the current ownership the MG has been maintained
by Goudhurst Service Station and the vendor's own
in-house mechanic, and has been fitted with a Tracker
device. Finished in Flamenco Red with black interior,
the car is offered with a quantity of expired MoTs
and tax discs, B&H press cutting, workshop manual
supplement, current SORN, Swansea V5C document and
MoT to 22nd April 2011 (issued at 51,599 miles)."
