Barnett has visited "Mark" who has recently posted messages
on the V8BB offering RV8 spares for sale and provides a report. (2.5.07)
I went to Wales yesterday to a village near Pontypridd to collect
some RV8 parts that I had purchased on EBay. The vendor was "Mark"
who has made entries on the V8 Bulletin Board saying that he is breaking
two low mileage RV8s. It was an interesting visit.

All the major assemblies and smaller parts have been very carefully
removed from the damaged cars and are clean and properly stored. I
came away with the parts I had originally bought at auction plus an
unused spare wheel and a pair of rare and perfect rear lights. Mark
clearly has connections with the motor trade but my visit was to his
house where he was very friendly and helpful, particularly with directions
to the rather obscure small Welsh mining village. His prices were
not bargain basement but I considered them fair. He clearly knows
what he has and is aware of the prices asked by the small number of
traders who deal in RV8 parts.
 | He
is hoping to sell most of the major assemblies complete, such as
a complete interior, as a single item. He has already sold one of
the complete front cross members and has had offers on the back
axles. He had listed a 7,000 mile engine and gearbox complete with
all ancillaries, even down to the ECU, at a £2,600 (GBP 2,600)
starting price on EBay. I told him that although I thought the price
was by no means unreasonable it may take a time to find a customer
with that amount of cash to spare. On the other hand I would have
thought it would be an excellent buy for someone carrying out a
conversion. Certainly if any RV8 owner is looking for useful used
spares then it is worth contacting him. For the moment though he
won't split dashboards into individual gauges or sell single bits
              of interior trim.
I pass this information on as it may be useful to register members,
I didn't get any discount or special treatment and have no business
              connection with Mark.
