How
has classic motoring suffered in the Budget?
The good news today was a useful postponement of the planned
fuel duty increase in January 2012!
Fuel duty - reductions
The good news in the Autumn Statement made to the UK Parliament
this afternoon is January's planned 3p per litre increase in
fuel duty will be postponed until August 2012. The second increase
that was planned for next August will now not take place but
the postponed 3p will apply then. More
VED rates
The Budget 2011 announced that from 1st April 2011 VED rates
would increase in line with RPI inflation. So for vehicles registered
before March 2011 the pre-graduated rate for vehicles over 1549cc
rose to £215 (2011-12). The Chancellor did not
refer to VED rates in his Autumn Statement and as far as we
can see there is no mention of a change to the VED rates in
the supporting documents.
VAT - no change
Thankfully no increase.
Infrastructure investment
Major plans for many road improvement schemes were announced.
