Replacement distributor with a Pertronix
Igniter upgrade
After
being dogged by continued misfiring after fitting what turned
out to be a very poor quality replacement rotor arm in 2010,
the complete replacement of the distributor with a new unit
with a Pertonix electronic ignition system supplied by the Distributor
Doctor has brought a welcome relief with a wonderful improvement!

Jay, the Distributor Doctor, says "LU181A Ignitor
is the new electronic ignition kit from Pertronix. They have
redesigned it and it now comes with its own basepate, so the
old one can be removed complete." As the Doctor is an official
Pertronix Dealer he can usually better most other UK based suppliers
on price, although some of the overseas suppliers offering the
kit in US Dollars are tougher to beat on price. So in March
2012 he was offering the LU181A @ £63.04 plus VAT, total
£75.65. (list price is £87.56 plus VAT, total
£105.07).
The Distributor Doctor also offers brand new UK made replacement
Lucas V8 35D8 distributors which are the earlier style
with points and external dwell adjustment, suitable for many
V8s exactly as they are, and with potential for modifying for
other applications. Martin was fortunately able to acquired
a few, brand new units so is now able to offer them from his
limited stocks. These
are the real thing, absolutely not to be confused with low grade
reproductions. In
March 2012 he was offering these new V8 distributors at £175.00
plus VAT. Martin can offer a new V8 distributor with an Ignitor

What's it like with a new V8 distributor fitted with a Pertronix
Ignitor?
What a pleasure driving the V8 is now - it pulls smoothly
and confidently from low revs and runs crisply with a zest on
the road. Fitting a Petronix Ignitor to an MGBGTV8 distributor
has got rid of an irritating misfire - a real transformation
and a smooth V8 engine, just as it should be!
You can get the Pertronix electronic ignition upgrade
from Petronix in the USA or from the Distributor Doctor in the
UK who is a source of the Ignitors as an official direct Factor
who keeps large stocks.
