Inn on Bodmin Moor

Jamaica Inn, the coaching inn, was the forerunner of today's
service station - somewhere to meet up during a journey, to rest
a while, to eat, drink and even sleep. It stands high and isolated
on Bodmin Moor serving real ale.
Daphne du Maurier spent a night at Jamaica Inn in 1930 and
the setting of the Moor and the atmosphere and legends stirred her
imagination to create one of her best known novels, Jamaica Inn.
There is a memorial room which features her Sheraton writing desk
and memorabilia.

Mr Potter's Museum, or rather the contents of it, were brought
to Jamaica Inn and one of the truly Victorian Museums dreamt up
by the famous taxidermist Walter Potter has been recreated here.
