Private
sale - very special MGBGTV8 conversion
WITHDRAWN following too
many calls from timewasters
Blue 3074 (GHD4156757G)
is an MGBGTV8 conversion in "Ecurie Ecosse"
blue built from scratch using a new Heritage
shell to a "super-sports" configuration.
Less than 14.500 documented miles from new.
This V8 was built in 2003/2004 to a very high
standard. It has been registered in Germany
since July 2004 as a 1968 MGBGT and the original
British registration documents are also available.
The idea behind this project was to combine
the look of a very early MGBGT with today's
performance - ready for everyday use. The engine
is a 4.6 Stage 2 Rover V8 new build by RPI Engineering.
It is fitted with a Weber carburettor and an
Offenhauser twin plane manifold and a Mallory
dual-point distributor. Gearbox is a new Rover
R380 five speed unit with a standard V8 rear
axle. Exhaust is a performance stainless steel
system from Clive Wheatley (sounds a bit like
a TVR) with tubular manifolds. The brakes have
Wilwood calipers and vented drilled discs and
the hoses are stainless steel. Car was clocked
at 237 Km/h (148 mph) at the racetrack. Never
any overheating problems as the cooling system
has been uprated and two Kenlowe fans fitted.
Rear axle has fibre glass leaf springs, AVO
telescopic shock absorber and RV8 anti tramp
bars are also fitted. It has 72 spokes Dayton
wire wheels with 195/65 R 15 Pirelli tyres.
The car has a handmade tan leather interior
with an Alcantara roof. An original MGB LE leather
steering wheel is fitted over a 1978 dashboard
with a Speedwell V8 rev-counter. All wiring
is totally new, 100 % Lucas parts free and with
8 relays and 16 fuses which is a little safer
than the original. The car is RHD. More than
£35.000 has been spent on parts (85% of
all used parts where NoS) and labour - too many
details to list. This is one of the best MGBGTV8s
ever built with great attention to detail and
a stunning performance. The engine bay is something
to be very proud of.

Private
sale - MGBGTV8 EFI 3.5 conversion
Black
3119
is a 1978 MGBGTV8 conversion with a 3.5 litre
fuel injected Rover engine which was comprehensively
converted in 1998 with Clive Wheatley parts
and a full bare metal body restoration with
a photographic record. The car has a current
MOT with no faults and has 57,000 recorded miles.
Car is in excellent condition, benefiting from
the necessary bespoke bonnet incorporating a
large bulge with vents either side. The car
was originally a white rubber bumper 1.8 BGT,
but was subsequently converted to fuel injection
V8, and had all necessary modifications as prescribed,
including V8 brakes and uprated suspension.
The car is lowered to chrome bumper specification
and also benefits from having had a chrome bumper
conversion at the time of restoration, equipped
with genuine minilites and a new set of wider
tyres. The rear springs and shockers were recently
replaced. It has a rebuilt Rover SD1 gearbox
and an MGC back axle with the correct drive
ratio. There is also a twin Kenlow fan system
which is thermostatically controlled with the
added bonus of a manual override. The ECU was
replaced in 2003. Since owning the car I have
replaced the rear suspension, installed a new
reconditioned gearbox, heater matrix, new light
units, and replacement of the thermo control
in the engine management. The car has black
cloth interior with the updated dashboard all
in very good condition and with everything working.
The car has the original spare wheel, toolkit
and handbook. The mileage is believed to be
genuine as that of the V8 engine when transplanted.
The car comes complete with a large history
file with many past MOTs, bills and photographs
of its restoration and conversion. I have owned
the car for the last 12 months and had a fantastic
time with it, but a relocation and new job with
high mileage necessitate a change of plan. £9,000.

recliners, and original seats still available for recovering.
The car been owned by me since 1992 and has only been
used in dry weather. The speedo currently shows just
over 12,000 miles and it is in excellent condition but
it may have done 112,000 or the speedo replaced before
I bought it. I have only done between 6,000 and 7,000
miles in the past 12 years, as I have been involved
in other rebuilds. Prior to my purchase the car had
been used in competition and still has an uprated engine
with 9.35:1 compression ratio. I understand the front
wings were replaced in 1992 and Minilite replica wheels,
tubular steel manifolds and Lumenition were fitted at
that time. Since I purchased it I have fitted front
and rear Spax telescopic conversions, new rear springs,
stainless steel exhaust system, Halogen headlamps, electric
aerial, reconditioned overdrive, new batteries, clutch
plate and rebuilt heads. Bills and MOT's from 1992 available.
Taxed for 6 months with new 12 month MOT. Reluctant
sale but space needed to finish my Magnette Varitone

system from Clive Wheatley which sounds fantastic! The
performance gain is magnificent and its just as quick

with uprated springs and anti-rollbar. However I still
use the original lever arm shocks with uprated valves.
The car is kept garaged at all times when not in use and
only sees the rain if I get caught out in a shower! I
