Collecting
the V8 Beer Run to the Hook Norton Brewery
Each year we have a run to Silverstone
via the independent brewery at Hook Norton where we collect the
polypins for the Silverstone Weekend. From Hook Norton to Silverstone
the route follows the side roads through the Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire
countryside to deliver the beer to the V8 Marquee at Silverstone.
There is a route map and schedule
with full details of the timing of the run.
The Old Brewery at Hook Norton
A
tour of the Hook Norton brewery is available - could members
planning to come on this tour let Victor Smith know so he will have
a guide to numbers - just telephone on 0208 392 9434 or email
at so we can see
if numbers will fit. It's a conducted tour of the brewery, a visit
to the museum, free samples of the range of beers and a free Hook
Norton glass! The visit is a comprehensive tour of the plant from
10.00am to 12.00am. As it is not an easy place to find through the
winding lanes, we shall meet up at the visitors' car park at 9.45am
to leave a little time for the "navigationally challenged"

Hook Norton Best Bitter, a cask conditioned and
dry-hopped beer brewed using water drawn from the wells beneath
the brewery. It has wonderful flavour with a moderate alcohol content
(ABV 3.4%).
Nothing worse than an empty glass - not a sight
seen very often when the likes of Philip Morgan, Mike Maude-Roxby
and John Targett are around!

There is also a Visitor
Centre which houses the brewery shop where you can buy sweatshirts,
caps and other regalia items - and of course their ales and stouts
in bottles, bottlegift packs, or easy dispensing polypins - that is
why we shall be there to get a supply of polypins for the V8 Register
marquee to refresh our members over the Silverstone weekend!
