Goodwood 2004 - scenes from another
glorious weekend of motor racing

Bright sun and clear skies for the Goodwood Revival 2004
After several weeks of very heavy rain which has been driving arable farmers to despair in some parts of the country, the weekend for the Goodwood Revival meeting was wonderful. With hardly any cloud there was plenty of room for the air displays by the Mustangs and Spitfires and the Lancaster.

Mike Maude-Roxby reports"the weekend was frankly stunning. An A35 (Jellymould) held off the Jaguar saloon driven by Grant Williams down the Lavant straight to win the saloon race. They both entered Woodcote, where we were side by side and sideways on the final lap. A slow ZB Magnette on the apex saved the chicane from demolition!"

Tim Hipwell was at Goodwood for the whole weekend with Georgie and reports "Goodwood lived up to it's "Glorious" title - the weather was superb and the the racing was amazing over the 3 days. All in all an event not to be missed. The highlight for us was the second part of the St. Mary's Trophy race which was won by Rae Davis in an A35. This incredible little machine kept the big Jags at bay. Grant Williams was the most sideways as he attempted to catch the A35 after an enforced pit stop to close an errant bonnet".

Period outfits were worn by Tim and Georgie Hipwell on Friday but they were "demoted" on Saturday and Sunday as it was just too hot, and blazer and flannels prevailed. (Photo: Tim Hipwell)
