V8 Database Project - Update
Major upgrading work on the V8 Database is underway with the help of a website and IT specialist, Steve James, the son of the T Register's John James. The aim of the upgrade is to create an online system where members can check their registration details and make vehicle enquiries in a similar way to the successful systems Steve created for the T-Type website. The New V8 Database will in fact be two databases - a secure Offline V8 Database holding all the vehicle and member data and a smaller Online V8 Database to which only selected data will be uploaded from time to time. We take data security seriously so this split system was essential. More Useful vehicle and member contacts search services will be available online from a new website known as the V8 Grapevine. With the exception of basic online MGV8 vehicle search facilities which will be available to all visitors to the website, all the V8 Grapevine services will be available only to members of the V8 Register. Those "member only" services will be via a secure password access system. (29.12.07) |
