How
do you find the Moghal Tandoori Restaurant?
An annual V8 Curry Night has been a tradition of the V8 Register
from its formation in 1978. It is usually held in early February
and starts the programme of V8 Gatherings for the year!
In 2002 we moved to a curry house in Beaconsfield as it is
close to the M40 and relatively easy to find and accessible to members
from the M4/M40/M25 motorway box - from the south and west via the
M4 and M40, from the north of the Home Counties via the M40 and
from the north and east via the M1 and M11 via the M25.

Beaconsfield
is at the middle of the top edge of this map (near J2 M40) which
shows the M4/M40/M25 motorway box with the link road (marked in
green) on the western side from J8/9 M4 to J4 M40 which is a dual
carriageway that passes close to Marlow.

You
leave the M40 at J2 signposted for Beaconsfield (heading
north) and then at a roundabout at the end of a short dual carriageway
spur, turn left (west) on to the old A40. After a short distance
along the A40 you then come to a small roundabout at the eastern
end of Beaconsfield high street (do not turn right here),
but go straight on along the wide high street for some 800 yards
(740 metres) or so until you reach a larger roundabout at the western
end of the high street. Here you turn right (north) on to the Aylesbury
Road (B474).

The
Moghal Tandoori Restaurant is in Warwick Road, Beaconsfield
which is north of the centre of Beaconsfield - it is marked with
a black dot at the top of the map above. From the roundabout
on the A40 at the western end of Beaconsfield high street, you take
the Aylesbury Road (B474) (north) and after 0.8 of a mile
(1.3 km) you cross a railway bridge with the station nearby and
then very shortly after, take the third right hand turn into
Warwick Road. You will find the restaurant some 150 yards (140
km) on the right hand side. There is good on-street parking on what
is a reasonably quiet street, adjacent to the restaurant. If you
arrive early, there is a very pleasant wine bar opposite the restaurant
where you can relax.

Advance
warning - disruption expected on the M25
For members coming to the V8 Curry Night from Kent, Surrey or Sussex
and are likely to use the western side of the London's M25 orbital
motorway, you need to note a news item from Brian Moyse.
Brian Moyse commutes from Surrey to near Hammersmith in West London
every day and reports serious congestion seems likely as the M25
is due to be dug up between Junctions 12 & 15 (on the
western side near London Heathrow Terminal 5) from the 5th January
2004. Fortunately Brian is being relocated to the Camberley
office of his organisation just in time to avoid the commute and
the chaos! Brian
mentions a useful webpage on the Highways
Agency's website. (17.12.03)
