Additional covered space for 2007
The V8BBQ Supper on Saturday evening at Silverstone 23rd June 2007 is proving popular and eighty members have booked a supper using the online booking form. Over recent years we have been very lucky with the weather for the Club’s annual International MG Meeting at Silverstone, but with the present unsettled weather pattern in England we felt that as a precaution we should get a large lightweight gazebo with sides to provide additional cover from the cold breezes that can appear in the evening on the Silverstone plateau and any light showers. There will be a few tables with the main marquee hire but the key thing you need to put on your checklist for Silverstone, if you are coming to the V8BBQ, is a reminder to bring a folding chair so you can enjoy your supper in some comfort.

This year the main V8 Marquee will be larger than usual – we believe it will be 10m by 12m (or 32.5ft by 39ft in traditional measurement).

Clive Wheatley is bringing his blue marquee again – it’s around 3m by 4m (or 9.75ft by 13ft). The new large lightweight gazebo is 3m by 9m (9.75ft by 29.25ft) but is only rain resistant and not able to cope well with strong winds!

Together that is a total cover of 159 sqm or 1,680 sqft. so with up to 100 members for the V8BBQ Supper that will be a tight 16 sqft a person - but hopefully it will provide some cover. In addition we will also have two open gazebos (each 3m by 4m or 9.75ft by 13ft) as cover for the V8BBQ serving area.

Ian Quarrington (V8 Currymaster 2007) very kindly offered to stop by on his way back from Portsmouth on Sunday and collected the new gazebos. He will then deliver them to Silverstone on Friday 22nd June after visiting the Hook Norton Brewery at noon and meeting fellow members for a V8 lunch at the Pear Tree nearby.
