Private
sale - RV8 in Oxford Blue
Oxford Blue 1589 has 14,600 km and is proven genuine as
it had 3,600 km when I bought it almost 5 years ago with one
owner before me. A great deal of work has been done to the car,
all the usual things which fail due to age have been replaced;
these include rear wheel cylinders, battery, clutch master cylinder
and all water hoses. Sports shock absorbers (from Clive Wheatley)
are fitted all round plus uprated new front springs, new bumpstops
and "Greenstuff" front brake pads. A single box exhaust
(from Clive) is fitted which makes the car sound |
|
good without being too loud and also improves the gas flow.
I had a new high capacity radiator made which means absolutely
no cooling problems which are common on the RV8. In addition
the radiator top mounting has been replaced with a carbon fibre
strengthened unit, also from Clive.
The
main upgrade is to the engine. It is fitted with a 90mm stroke
crankshaft plus new pistons and rods making the capacity 5
litres. The cylinder heads and inlet manifold were gas flowed
adding to the performance plus a "fast road" camshaft
is fitted. The engine management computer has a "Tornado"
chip fitted, the HT leads are blue Magnecore, the air filter
is fully enclosed and draws cool air from in front of the radiator.
The result of all this is stunning performance, huge amounts
of torque and a top speed of over 230 kph. All paperwork is
available to confirm the above.
The tyres were replaced at around 10,000 km due to age |
and
the spare has never been used. All books (including an English
driver's manual) and tools are present plus a half tonneau and
wheel chocks. The overall condition is very good, the wood trim
is unmarked, the gear lever knob shows the usual signs of wear
(but I will include a brand new one), MG original carpet mats
are fitted, spare keys and 2 remote controls are also present.
Only known faults are the glovebox light does not work and the
CD changer is present but not working but the radio and cassette
player are fine.
Price 2,500,000 Yen plus shipping and the car is available
in Japan (where I live) now. The UK Pound and the Euro are very
strong against the Yen at the moment so the price should be
attractive considering the work done to the car. Photos are
available at www.davidboniface.com though they are a little
out of date. I will gladly take and send more if required and
I can be contacted on +81 90 7723 5152 or at david((atat))japan.email.ne.jp
(Japan is GMT +9 hours).
