Summary
of the report of the Working Group established to review the Club's
motor sport strategy and options
The
Working Group was created to carry out a strategic review of the
Club's motor sport activities, current trends and the available
options, and then report its findings and recommendations to the
Club Chairman. Ron Gammons was appointed by Peter Best (Club Chairman)
to lead the Working Group and select members who he felt had the
experience and ability to work as a team in carrying out the remit
and produce a good report. A subsequent resolution of the Board
on 12th June 2006 confirmed that appointment and remit subject to
one member of the Club Office staff being invited by Ron Gammons
to join the Working Group. The Club's competitions secretary, Sharon
Smith, was subsequently invited to join the Working Group along
with Piers Hubbard, Victor Smith and Geoff St John Mitchell.
The Working Group has put forward a number of proposals which have
been approved by the Board in principle, including:
|
Restricting
the number of Club sponsored race meetings to 4 or 5 which should
be spread out through the season.
Improved publicity of the Club's race meetings.
Circuit hospitality for members, competitors, marshals, administration
staff and volunteer helpers at the Club's race meetings.
CRB support - encouraging the Centres and Registers to arrange
their activities at Club race meetings.
Any Club Member who has any observations to make regarding the Club's
motor sport programme should contact Ron Gammons who will welcome
your views and contribution. His contacts are below. Copies of the
23 page full report will automatically be sent to the Club's Racing
Championships and other involved parties and on request by any Centre
or Register.
